Chapter Eleven

The most irritating thing, other than the fact of being in prison, was that the United States Federal Penitentiary at Coleman, Florida, was overflowing with hot, rat, snitching ass inmates. And it was more frustrating for Frank Julius because he didn’t know who was who.

Old convicts from way back were turning into informants for the government every day in an attempt to get some time cut off of their sentences. It had gotten so bad in the federal prison system as a whole that all of the federal penitentiaries were now snitch havens.

There were guys running around wearing tape recorders and wires for the F.B.I. and the D.E.A. under their coats in an attempt to gain vital information and federal indictments for the government. On several occasions, over the past few years at U.S.P. Coleman, the F.B.I. had actually given illegal drugs to their main snitches so they could use the drugs to entrap high profile prisoners, getting them longer sentences. A big drug conspiracy went down at Coleman, where one of the correctional officers was doing their thing for a payday by bringing in marijuana and other illegal items and the inmate rat who was getting served was setting up the officers the whole time, from day one. They didn’t stop with the officers at the prison. They were snitching on everyone else that they ever did past business with. Some of whom they really did business with and even those they didn’t. Those hot motherfuckers were lying to make a quota for the feds. The more people they got caught up, the more the feds loved it. U.S.P. Coleman, Florida was not the place to be and Frank Julius knew it. But he was close to Miami and the reigns of his organization so all he had to do was to stay solo and stay sharp and he would be cool as he waited for the outcome of his direct appeal that was now at the United States District Court for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia.

The U.S.P. at Coleman, Florida housed about One thousand four hundred fifty inmates. Within the total population, there were a few who Frank knew that he could trust and depend on, so everyone at Coleman was not fucked up. Even in fucked up federal prisons there were soldiers and real men who were stand up and stayed loyal to the code.

He knew that he could trust old head Dino from Miami, who had done a lot of time in the state of Florida system and now in the feds where he and his co-defendants got busted on a fake robbery that the feds set up. Dino was a real convict in every sense of the word, and solid. He knew old man Steve was there on the yard but he hadn’t run into him yet. He knew Steve from back in the day when Steve and his people were the first to push that dog food in Miami and got fucked up because of an informant.
